The Chinese smartphone brand OnePlus has officially announced the release of Android 14-based OxygenOS 14 for its flagship foldable phone, the OnePlus Open. The update is currently only available to OnePlus Open users in India. It is worth noting that the update is being released first to those who participated in the Close Beta and Open Beta versions. The rollout is happening in stages, so it may take some time to reach all Open units.

The company confirmed on its community forum that the most recent build, CPH2551_14.0.0.400(EX01), will be gradually delivered via OTA to users in other regions. It brings several notable enhancements to the OnePlus device, as described in the official changelog:

  • The update includes the Aqua Dynamics feature, which allows you to interact with morphing forms and quickly access current information.
  • The new update also includes File Dock, which allows for drag-and-drop content transfer between apps and devices.
  • It uses Content Extraction, which allows users to recognise and extract text and images from their screens with a single tap.
  • The new Smart Cutout feature can separate multiple subjects in a photo from the background for copying or sharing.
  • Shelf has received an update that includes more widget recommendations.
  • It improves photo and video permission management for increased security while also improving system stability, app launch speed, and animation smoothness.
  • The new update includes Aquamorphic-themed ringtones, revamped system notification sounds, and improved system animations for smoother transitions.
  • Furthermore, it includes a carbon tracking Always-On Display (AOD) that visualizes the carbon emissions saved by walking instead of driving.

How to download the OxygenOS 14-based Android 14 update.

  • To update, users must make sure their phones are running the detectable version CPH2551_13.2.0.301.
  • Users who did not receive the update notification can manually check by going to Settings > About device > Tap “up to date” >> Select the icon at the top right > Beta Program > Follow these steps to apply > Check for updates.
  • Before proceeding with the update, the company recommends that the battery level be above 30% and that you have at least 5GB of storage available.
