Nothing Ear, Ear (a) TWS earbuds are launched in India: features, specs, and cost

At its Community Q1 2024 event, Nothing announced its next-generation audio product, the Nothing Ear and Ear (a). The new generation TWS earbuds feature Nothing’s signature transparent design similar to the company’s other products. The design doesn’t change much from the Nothing Ear (2), which has an ear tip that looks like an angled ear and we see the Nothing Ear and Ear (a) branding mentioned in the smooth tail.

Price and sale of Nothing Ear, Ear (a) in India:

Nothing Ear and Nothing Ear(a) is priced at Rs 11,999 and Rs 7,999 respectively. Both products will go on sale on April 22 through Flipkart, Chroma, and Vijay sales. Nothing Ear and Nothing Ear(a)is also available with a special starting price of Rs 10,999 and an offer of Rs 5,999 on Flipkart.

The Nothing Ear will be offered in black and white, while the Ear (a) gets a new Yellow color in addition to the Black and White options.

Specifications and  features of Nothing Ear:

Audio: Nothing Ear ships with a custom 11mm driver and ceramic diaphragm for crisper and louder overall richness. Nothing says this has improved the dual chamber design of the earphones (2) including two additional vents to improve ventilation and deliver clearer sound The earpiece supports LHDC 5.0 and LDAC codecs for high-resolution streaming with Bluetooth and Hi-Res Audio certification.

ANC: The Nothing Ear features up to 45dB of ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) and intelligent noise cancellation. This new Smart ANC algorithm means it checks for noise leaks between the ear and ear canal and adds more noise cancellation accordingly.

The earbuds also account for background distraction and Adaptive ANC, which automatically works for 3 noise cancellation levels (high, medium, and low). Bandwidths up to 5000Hz are supposed to result in greater detection and reduction of echoes.

Battery: There is no guarantee that the earphones last 25 percent longer than the Ears (2). 40.5 hours are supposed to be offered at the full rate plus credit. Individually, the earphones provide up to 8.5 hours of playback. It has wireless charging and fast charging at 2.5W. Ten minutes of fast charging is claimed to provide ten hours of listening time.

For calls: The Nothing Ear features advanced Nothing’s Clear Voice Technology and a new talk mic system. The tail has a new airway so the air has a clear path, reducing interference by 60 percent compared to the ear (2).

Other: Real-time adjustment of the dual-device connection, Low Lag Mode to reduce audio delay compared to normal use, Pinch control and support IP54 rating for the earbuds and IP55 rating for the case. We get ear search, Google Fast Pair, and Microsoft Swift Pair.

 Features of Nothing Ear (a):

Nothing ear (a) has almost the same design as Nothing ear but gets a new thinner frame, which is much smaller and has smoother edges. There is also up to 45dB of ANC support and a new Smart ANC algorithm. The ANC detects distractions in your environment and automatically applies high, medium, or low noise cancellation to ambient noise.

The new driver for Ear (a) is said to deliver 2.5 times more instantaneous power. There is support for Hi-Res Audio fidelity and the ability to stream high-definition audio with Bluetooth connectivity. We get Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity. The earbuds are compatible with the LDAC codec for high-quality streaming via Bluetooth.

A 500mAh battery is provided in the Ear (a) carry case, while the earbuds have a 46mAh unit. The earphones are claimed to play music for 42.5 hours after a full charge. While there is no wireless charging, we do get fast charging support. The 10-minute charge is supposed to provide up to 10 hours of playback (case with ANC disabled.). The ears (a) are IP54 rated in the case and IPX2 rated in the case.
