HIGHLIGHTS

  • References to the Google Pixel Tablet 2 were discovered in the first beta of Android 14 QPR3 for Pixel smartphones.
  • During development, the first Pixel Tablet was given the codenames “Tangor” and “Tangorpro”.
  • Google Pixel Tablet 2 could arrive around the same time as the original Pixel Tablet, which was released in May.

The Google Pixel Tablet made its official debut last year, powered by the Tensor G2 chipset. The company included a charging speaker dock that can be used for multiple purposes. Rumors have spread that the Mountain View behemoth is working on a possible successor. The most recent Android beta release includes two codenames, implying the development of the next-generation Pixel Tablet.

Pixel Tablet 2 could be in the works.

  • The first beta of Android 14 QPR3 for Pixel phones contains references to the Pixel Tablet 2, according to 9to5Google.
  • According to the report, the code now includes two new entries, “Clementine” and “Kiyomi”.
  • These codenames were never discovered in the beta. This could indicate that Google is working on the Pixel Tablet 2.
  • When the first Pixel Tablet was in development, it had the names “Tangor” and “Tangorpro”.
  • Tangor is a hybrid fruit that combines a sweet orange and another citrus fruit.
  • Tangors are represented by the codenames “Clementine” and “Kiyomi” for the possible Pixel Tablet 2.

Similarly, the Pixel Tablet’s bundled charging dock had two codenames: “Korlan” and “Yuzu.” Google only released one dock, and the second dock, which was intended to only provide charging functionality, was never released. Because the company hasn’t revealed any information about the development of the Pixel Tablet 2, these are all rumors for the time being, and we recommend treating them with caution.
